About Me...
This will be my 11th year at this amazing school and I feel privileged to be a part of the Cavalier team. I am fortunate and blessed to be teaching psychology, which has been a life long pursuit of mine.
A little bit about myself: I grew up in Garden Grove and went to Parkview Elementary, Walton Intermediate, and Garden Grove High School (yes, I know, our rival school). I was extremely involved in high school which scored me a scholarship to UCI where I double majored in English and Psychology. After I taught summer school at Irvine Intermediate, I was inspired to teach so I then went on to receive my teaching credential from Cal State Fullerton. I have two older brothers, one of who teaches at Grove and I also have an older sister. I am the proud aunt of four amazing nephews and one adorable niece. Last, but definitely not least, I married my best friend, Scott Rizuto, on June 24, 2017 and had my precious baby girl, Eiza (pronounced EYE ZUH) exactly one year later on June 24, 2018 - best anniversary gift ever!! On January 15, 2020, our family got bigger with baby Ethan being born. Never a dull moment at the Rizuto household. My interests include hanging with my kids and handsome hubby, traveling, eating sushi or eating anything Mexican, dancing, spending time with my family/friends, running, going to the movies, and reading.
For the last few years at Santiago High School, it has been my mission to build a strong psychology program. In the Fall of 2014, that dream came true. It is my goal to continue to make this class even better and stronger!
Furthermore, I was lucky enough to be granted an acceptance to the APA/CLARK TOPSS workshop in Worsester, Massachusetts in the summer of 2014. I met Freud (well, his statue), Dr. Gurel, Maria Vita (an amazing teacher who uses real rats for her studies), Rob McEntarffer (the main author of Barron's AP review book), and many many more psychology pros. It was awesome!
In addition to being a teacher, I am the adviser for the NAMI on Campus Club.
